Wiper Frame with Linkage and Windshield Wiper Motor (V) Removal
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
• Puller (T10369/5)
• In order remove the wiper frame with linkages and wiper motor, wiper arms and plenum chamber cover must be removed.
- Deactivate Alternating Park Position (APP function), refer to => [ Wiper Motor Alternating Park Position Function, Deactivating ] Testing and Inspection.
- Run the wiper arms to the park position.
• Always follow the procedure described in repair information when connecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to => [ Battery Post/Terminal ] Battery Post/Terminal.
Removal
• When connecting battery, always perform work procedure as described in repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair. Not adhering to sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
• Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to => [ Battery Post/Terminal ] Battery Post/Terminal.
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the wiper arm. Refer to => [ Wiper Arm, Removal ] Wiper Arm, Removal.
- Remove the plenum chamber cover.
- Remove screw - 1 -.
- Open the wire holder - 2 - and remove the wire.
- Unclip the connector - 3 - from its bracket on the wiper frame.
- Remove the 4 bolts - 1 - and the wiper frame with the linkage from the plenum chamber. Be careful of the of different lines still connected.
- Disconnect the connector from the wiper motor and remove the wiper frame and linkage.
• If Wiper motor control module (J400) or Windshield Wiper Motor (V) is replaced, Wiper motor control module must be coded. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module (J400), Coding ] Testing and Inspection.
