AdBlue(R) Tank
AdBlue(R) Tank
• The Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) reducing agent AUS 32 is simply called "AdBlue(R)" in the following information.
• AdBlue(R) reducing agent can irritate skin, eyes and the respiratory system.
• If the fluid comes into contact with skin, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water.
• Consult a physician if necessary.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
Removing
- Drain the AdBlue(R) tank. => [ AdBlue(R) Tank, Draining ] Procedures.
- Remove the muffler. Refer to => [ Muffler and Mounts Overview ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the muffler heat shield.
- Loosen the rear stabilizer bar and fold it downward.
Protect the connectors, for example with a plastic bag or cable ties, before they become coated with AdBlue(R). The connectors could be damaged because the AdBlue(R) has a tendency to seep and it crystallizes.
- Remove the connectors - 1 through 3 - from the bracket and disconnect them.
- Remove the AdBlue(R) line - 4 - and disconnect it as follows:
- First, press the clip on the reducing agent (AdBlue(R)) injector wiring connection in the - direction of arrow 1 - as illustrated and then remove the delivery line - A - in the - direction of the arrow 2 - without using tools and without pulling sharply.
Seal all openings on the line and the connections immediately with plugs to prevent contaminants from entering. Even tiny particles can cause serious damage to the system.
- Position the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) under the AdBlue(R) tank.
- Remove the nuts - arrows - and lower the AdBlue(R) tank using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A).
Installing
- Raise the AdBlue(R) tank carefully using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) until the wires and delivery line can be connected.
- Position the insulation upper section on the AdBlue(R) tank.
• Make sure all of the components on the AdBlue(R) tank are secure, the insulation upper section is positioned correctly and none of the lines are pinched.
- Carefully raise the AdBlue(R) tank using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) until it is possible to install the nuts.
- Tighten the nuts to specification: 20 Nm.
Further installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the stabilizer bar.
- Fill the AdBlue(R) tank.
