Transmission Fluid Cooler



Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Circlip Pliers

Removing

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Remove the radiator grille.

- Remove the windshield washer system filler neck - 1 - from the bracket - A - and secure it behind the headlamp.






- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the bolt - 1 - and only loosen the bolt - 2 -.

- Place the drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208) below.

The supply and return lines are connected to the cooler with a "quick release coupling" - arrow - and secured with a clip.






Open the clip to remove the lines.


Do not overstretch the clip.

Replace any clips that have been overstretched. Refer to => [ Quick Release Coupling Seal Kit ] Quick Release Coupling Seal Kit, do not bend them back together. Otherwise the coupling could loosen later and transmission fluid could leak out.

- Open the clip a maximum of 16 mm - a - and remove the lines - 2 - from the cooler - 1 -.






To prevent the supply and return lines from being switched, the couplings - 1 - are arranged opposite.






- Seal the line openings with suitable plugs.

- Rotate the lock support - A - clockwise upward.






- Remove the cooler bolts - arrows -.






Two additional bolts are on the bottom of the cooler.

- Remove the transmission fluid cooler forward.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

- Install the cooler and tighten it. Tightening specification see => [ (Item 13) Bolt ] Transmission Fluid Cooler Overview.

- Connect the supply and return lines to the connections on the cooler

When connecting, the clip engages audibly with a clicking noise into the connection - 1 -.






- Make sure the clip is seated correctly.

The clip must be seated completely in the groove on the coupling - 2 - and the connection - 1 -. Dimension - a - should be a maximum of 5 mm.






If the dimension is greater than 5 mm, the clip was overstretched and it must be replaced. Refer to => [ Quick Release Coupling Seal Kit ] Quick Release Coupling Seal Kit.


Do not bend the clip together. Otherwise the coupling could loosen later and transmission fluid could leak out.

- Adjust the hood latch.

- Check and fill the transmission fluid level. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.
