Clutch Master Cylinder: Service and Repair






Master Cylinder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pliers (T10005)

Removing

Before disconnecting the battery, retrieve the coding for radio devices with anti-theft coding.

Disconnect battery ground (GND) cable with ignition switched off.

When reconnecting battery

Lubricate the various bearing and contact surfaces with grease (G 000 450 02).

- Remove mounting bracket --> [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.

- Release mounting of master cylinder actuator rod using pliers (T10005).





- Place spacer - A - between clutch pedal and stop and press clutch pedal toward spacer.





Spacer length = approximately 40 mm (e.g. 1/2"socket insert)

- Release retaining clip - B - and pull master cylinder out of mounting bracket - arrow 1 - and - arrow 2 -.

Installing

Move clutch pedal to stop in rest position.

- Install securing clip - 2 - to actuator rod - 1 - for master cylinder.





- Place spacer - A - between clutch pedal and stop and press clutch pedal toward spacer.





Spacer length = approximately 40 mm (e.g. 1/2" socket insert)

- Secure master cylinder on mounting bracket - arrow 1 - and - arrow 2 -.

- Press actuator rod - 1 - for master cylinder in direction of - arrow - until securing clip - 2 - engages audibly in clutch pedal.





- Install mounting bracket --> [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.
