Control Arm with Mounting Bracket






Control Arm with Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench 40-200 Nm (VAG 1332)

Locating pins (T10096)

Removing

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove the lower noise insulation.

- Remove the ball joint nuts - arrows -.





- Remove the lower control arm from the ball joint studs.

- Secure the position of the mounting bracket, refer to --> [ Securing the Mounting Bracket ] Subframe Locating

- Replace bolt - 1 - on the left side, and bolt - 8 - on the right side with (T10096) and tighten to 20 Nm.





The (T10096) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the (T10096) will be damaged.

- Remove bolt - 10 - on the left side and bolt - 17 - on the right side.

- Remove bolts - 1 -.





Installing

- Install the control arm with mounting bracket into the subframe.

- Install bolt - 10 - on the left side and bolt - 17 - on the right side, but do not tighten yet.





- Insert bolts - 1 - and tighten.





- Now replace (T10096) with a new bolt and tighten it to specification.

- Install the ball joint to the lower control arm and install the ball joint nuts - arrows -.





- Tighten the control arm bolts - 10 - and - 17 - to the bracket in curb weight position.





Further installation is in the reverse sequence to removal.

Make sure that the ball joint boot is not damaged or twisted.

- Install the lower noise insulation.

- Install the wheel and tighten. Refer to --> [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] .
