Oil Line: Service and Repair

Oil Supply Line to Turbocharger

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Socket (T40055)

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Remove engine cover. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove air filter housing. Refer to --> [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Remove intake hose --> [ 1 Intake Tube ] Air Filter Assembly Overview between the mass air flow sensor and intake scoop. Loosen hose clips with hose clip pliers (VAS 6362).

- Remove intake scoop --> [ 35 Intake Scoop ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Remove warm air collector plate --> [ 2 Warm Air Collector Plate ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Remove charge air pipe --> [ (item 15) Charge Air Pipe ] Charge Air Cooler Components Assembly Overview.

- Remove connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold --> [ 29 Connecting Pipe ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Remove oil supply line clamp - arrow - at the rear of the cylinder head.





- Loosen union nuts on the oil filter bracket and turbocharger with the socket wrench (T40055).

- Remove oil supply line clamp - arrow - at the side of the cylinder head.





- Remove oil supply line.

Installing

- Check oil supply line to make sure it is not clogged.

- Fill turbocharger with engine oil at the oil supply line connection.

The additional numbered steps must be followed to ensure the oil supply line is installed correctly:

- Set union nuts of oil supply line onto the connections.

- Tighten union nut on oil filter bracket by hand.

- Tighten union nut on the turbocharger by hand.

- First tighten union nut on oil filter bracket and then the one on the turbocharger using socket wrench (T40055).

• Tightening specification: --> [ 6 Oil Supply Line, 22 Nm ] Service and Repair.

- Position clamps and tighten bolt or nut:

• Tightening specification: 10 Nm.

The rest of installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

CAUTION!
Make sure the connecting pipe decoupling element does not bend or stretch. Cracks could develop.

• Replace the connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold after removing.

- Install connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold. Refer to --> [ 29 Connecting Pipe ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Install charge air tube. Refer to --> [ (item 15) Charge Air Pipe ] Charge Air Cooler Components Assembly Overview.

- Install warm air collector plate. Refer to --> [ 2 Warm Air Collector Plate ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Install intake scoop. Refer to --> [ 35 Intake Scoop ] Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold and Attachments Assembly Overview.

- Install intake hose. Refer to --> [ 1 Intake Tube ] Air Filter Assembly Overview between the mass air flow sensor and intake scoop.

- Install air filter housing. Refer to --> [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Install the engine cover. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.
