Sealing Flange and Dual Mass Flywheel/Drive Plate Overview






1 Cylinder Block

• Crankshaft overview, refer to => [ Crankshaft Overview ] Crankshaft Overview.

• Piston overview, refer to => [ Pistons and Connecting Rod Overview ] Service and Repair.

2 Alignment Pin

• Not installed

3 Sealing Flange, Transmission Side

• With the seal.

• Only replaced as a complete unit.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Sealing Flange, Transmission Side ] Service and Repair.

4 Bolt

• Tightening sequence, refer to => [ Sealing Flange Bolt Tightening Sequence
and Specification ].

5 Intermediate Plate

• Must be located on the alignment sleeves.

• Do not damage or bend when doing assembly work.

• Is hooked in at sealing flange, refer to => [ Installing the Intermediate Plate ].

6 Bolt

• 60 Nm + 90 degrees (1/4) additional turn.

• Always replace

• For the dual mass flywheel/drive plate.

7 Dual Mass Flywheel/Drive Plate

• Dual mass flywheel removing and installing. Refer to => [ Dual Mass Flywheel ] Dual Mass Flywheel.

• Drive plate removing and installing.

• Drive plate installed position: the collar faces the engine.

• Only possible to install in one position - Bores are offset.

8 Alignment Pin

• Not installed

Sealing Flange Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification





- Tighten the bolts in sequence - 1 through 8 - as shown:

- 1. Install the bolts and tighten by hand.

- 2. Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm.

Installing the Intermediate Plate





- Hook in the intermediate plate at the sealing flange and push it onto the alignment sleeves - arrows -.
