Fluid Pan: Service and Repair
Oil Pan
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip tray (VAG 1306)
• Torque wrench (5-60 Nm) (VAG 1783)
Removing
- Remove the noise insulation below the engine.
- Place the (VAG 1306) underneath.
- Remove the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) inspection plug - A -.
- Remove the overflow tube - C - and allow the remaining ATF to drain.
- Remove the oil pan bolts - arrows - in a diagonal sequence.
- Remove the oil pan together with the gasket.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
- Clean the two magnets in the oil pan recesses. Ensure that the magnets are in full contact with the oil pan.
- Check the gasket for damage and make sure all of the spacers (quantity: 8) are present.
Otherwise, replace the gasket.
- Install the oil pan and gasket; when doing this be sure not to pinch any lines.
- Make sure the oil pan gasket is properly seated.
- Tighten the oil pan bolts - arrows - in a diagonal sequence and in stages, tightening sequence, refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications.
- Install the overflow tube - C -, tightening specification, refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications.
- Add ATF, check the ATF level and top off. Refer to => [ ATF Level, Checking and Filling ] Testing and Inspection.
