If the ATF is filled, only use ATF available as a replacement part

- When checking the ATF level, always replace the seal - arrow - on the ATF inspection plug.

Checking

- Turn off engine.

At the start of the test, the ATF temperature should not be more than approximately 30 degrees C (86 degrees F).

Transmission is not in emergency running mode, and ATF temperature is not above 30 degrees C (86 degrees F).

Vehicle is in the horizontal position.

Selector level in the "P" position.

- Connect the vehicle tester and move through the selections until it is ready for operation. refer to => [ Tester, Connecting ] 09G Transmission.

- Press the right Guided Functions.

- Then select vehicle, transmission and Check ATF Level.

- Press →.

- Start the engine.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Place the appropriate receptacle underneath the transmission.

- Press →.

If the test temperature 35 degrees C (86 degrees F) to 45 degrees C (113 degrees F) is displayed:

- Remove the inspection plug in the oil pan for checking the ATF level.

The ATF present in the overflow tube runs off.

If ATF continues to leak out of the hole:

ATF does not need to be topped off.

- Tighten the inspection plug with new seal to 27 Nm. The ATF level test is now completed.

If no ATF drips from the hole:

- Fill the ATF.

Filling

- Install the (VAS 6262/2) hand tight with the engine running.

- Fill with 1 liter of ATF.

- Tighten the (VAS 6262) to the quick release coupling and check:

If ATF flows out of adapter hole:

ATF does not need to be topped off.

- Allow ATF to drain until it drips.

- Tighten the inspection plug with new seal to 27 Nm. The ATF level test is now completed.

If ATF does not drip:

- Fill with another liter.

If the ATF level is too high or too low it will adversely affect the operation of the transmission. If 2 liters are missing, you should check the transmission more closely. There is probably a larger leak.

- Add 3 liters of ATF through the filling tube, refer to the => electronic parts catalog for the ATF.

- Start the engine, shift through all selector lever positions, you must remain in each position approximately 10 seconds.

- Then check the ATF level and top off, as necessary. Refer to => [ ATF Level, Checking and Filling ] Testing and Inspection.
