Removal
AIR CONDITIONING: COMPRESSOR (for 2AR-FE): REMOVAL
1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Testing and Inspection
4. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH
5. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH
6. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH
7. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
8. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
10. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT (for Vane Pump) Removal
11. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT (for Compressor and Generator) Removal
12. REMOVE INLET AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Removal
13. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY Removal
14. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER Disassembly
15. SEPARATE RADIATOR RESERVOIR TANK HOSE Removal
16. DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE Removal
17. DISCONNECT OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE Removal
18. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/o Engine Hood Courtesy Switch) Removal
19. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/ Engine Hood Courtesy Switch) Removal
20. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT Removal
21. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE PIPING CLAMP
(a) Remove the piping clamp from the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose and No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose.
23. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT SUCTION HOSE
(a) Disengage the 2 clamps.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose from the compressor and pulley.
(d) Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
24. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE HOSE
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose from the compressor and pulley.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
25. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY (for TMC Made)
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and the compressor and pulley.
26. REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY (except TMC Made)
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
(b) Using an E8 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 stud bolts and compressor and pulley.
HINT
Remove the compressor and pulley from the vehicle with the stud bolts remaining in the compressor and pulley.
