Front Brake Disc Removal and Installation
Front Brake Components
NOTE:
Failure to take proper precautions during brake pad removal may cause damage to the brake flexible hose and/or the brake piston.
- Be careful not to damage the brake flexible hose during brake pad removal.
- Avoid depressing the brake pedal during the brake pad removal procedure to prevent the brake piston from being forced out of the cylinder.
Removal
1) Hoist vehicle and remove front wheel. Removal and Replacement
2) Remove front brake caliper and brake pads. Front Brake Pad Removal and Installation
3) Remove front brake caliper carrier bolts (1) and remove front brake caliper carrier (2) from steering knuckle.
4) Push out brake disc (2) by tightening two M8 bolts (1) evenly into jack bolt holes.
Installation
Front Brake Disc Inspection
NOTE:
If the flexible hose is twisted, the hose will be damaged.
If the hose is twisted, reinstall it being careful not to let it get twisted.
1) Align paint (2) on brake disc (1) with paint (4) on front wheel hub (3) and install brake disc.
2) Install front brake caliper carrier (1) to steering knuckle and tighten brake caliper bolts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Front brake caliper carrier bolt (a): 155 Nm (15.8 kgf-m, 114.5 lbf-ft)
3) Install brake pad shim and brake pads. Front Brake Pad Removal and Installation
4) Install front brake caliper (2) and tighten front brake caliper pin bolts (1) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Front brake caliper pin bolt (a): 34 Nm (3.5 kgf-m, 25.0 lbf-ft)
5) Install front wheel. Removal and Replacement
6) Check that brake system operates properly.
