DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- Be sure to troubleshoot first unexpected DTCs previously detected in "DTC Confirmation Procedure".
- Confirm that the following conditions are met in this "DTC Confirmation Procedure".

- 11 V <= Battery voltage

- DTC P0443, P0449, P2228 or P2229 is not detected.

1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle at 50 - 100 km/h (30 - 60 mile/h) for 10 min.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. Purge line check

Visually check purge line for connection, leakage, clogging and deterioration.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Repair or replace.

3. EVAP canister purge valve performance check

Check EVAP canister purge valve for performance. EVAP Canister Purge System Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Replace EVAP canister purge valve. Throttle Body and Intake Manifold Components

4. EVAP canister purge valve circuit check

Check EVAP canister purge valve circuit according to Step 2 through 3 under P0443 DTC P0443.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective circuit.

5. EVAP system check

Check the following parts for clogging.
- EVAP canister
- EVAP canister air suction filter
- EVAP system passage
- EVAP vent valve in EVAP leak check module

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Replace ECM and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
NO -
Clean, repair or replace defective part.
