Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation




Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

If the front suspension frame is not stably supported on a transmission jack or other supporting equipment during its removal and installation, the frame could drop and cause personal injury.

Make sure that the weight of the front suspension frame is supported at the frame's center and that the frame is well balanced on the support.

Removal

1) Remove engine undercover.
2) Remove front bumper lower cover. Service and Repair
3) Remove exhaust pipe No. 2. Exhaust Pipe and Muffler Removal and Installation
4) Remove propeller shaft (4WD model). Propeller Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation
5) Remove front stabilizer bar joints. Front Stabilizer Bar/Front Stabilizer Bar Joint Removal and Installation
6) Remove suspension arms. Suspension Arm Removal and Installation
7) Separate steering lower shaft and steering gear box. Removal and Installation
8) Remove P/S motor connector, rotation angle / torque sensor connector and grounding from P/S controller. Removal and Installation
9) Support engine transmission transfer assembly (4WD model) using hoist.
10) Detach front engine mounting (1) and engine rear mounting (2) from front suspension frame.











11) Remove front suspension frame mounting bracket bolts (1) and front suspension frame mounting bracket nut (2) and loosen front suspension frame No. 1 bolt (3) and front suspension frame No. 2 bolt (4) evenly to remove front suspension frame mounting bracket (5) and front suspension frame (6).











12) Remove front stabilizer bar and steering gear case from front suspension frame.

Installation

1) Install front stabilizer bar and steering gear case to front suspension frame.
- Front stabilizer bar Front Stabilizer Bar/Front Stabilizer Bar Joint Removal and Installation
- Steering gear case Removal and Installation
2) Install front suspension frame to vehicle body and tighten front suspension frame No. 1 and No. 2 bolts, front suspension frame mounting bracket bolts and front suspension mounting bracket nuts in this sequence to specified torques.

Tightening torque
Front suspension frame mounting bracket bolt (a): 90 Nm (9.2 kgf-m, 66.5 lbf-ft)
Front suspension frame No. 1 bolt (b): 120 Nm (12.2 kgf-m, 88.5 lbf-ft)
Front suspension frame No. 2 bolt (c): 120 Nm (12.2 kgf-m, 88.5 lbf-ft)
Front suspension mounting nut (d): 55 Nm (5.6 kgf-m, 40.5 lbf-ft)









3) Tighten engine front mounting nuts and engine rear mounting bolts to specified torques.

Tightening torque
Engine front mounting nut (a): 55 Nm (5.6 kgf-m, 40.5 lbf-ft)
Engine rear mounting bolt (b): 55 Nm (5.6 kgf-m, 40.5 lbf-ft)









4) Connect P/S motor connector, rotation angle / torque sensor connector and grounding to P/S control module. Removal and Installation
5) Connect steering lower shaft and steering gear case. Removal and Installation
6) Install suspension arms. Suspension Arm Removal and Installation
7) Install front stabilizer bar joints. Front Stabilizer Bar/Front Stabilizer Bar Joint Removal and Installation
8) Install propeller shaft (4WD model). Propeller Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation
9) Install exhaust pipe No. 2. Exhaust Pipe and Muffler Removal and Installation
10) Install front bumper lower cover. Service and Repair
11) Install engine undercover. Service and Repair
