Rear Side Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Failure to take proper precautions when performing service on the side air bag (inflator) module can result in personal injury or non-activation of the air bag in the event of a collision.

- Never attempt to disassemble or repair an air bag (inflator) module. If any abnormality is found, replace the module with a new one.

and follow all of the instructions provided.

NOTE:

An air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped may not operate correctly.

Never use an air bag (inflator) module that has been dropped. Replace the module with a new one.

NOTE:

Refer to Repair and Inspection Required after Accident Repair and Inspection Required after Accident
before replacing a deployed air bag.

Removal

1) Disable air bag system. Disabling Air Bag System
2) Remove rear seat cushion assembly. Components
3) Remove rear bolster. Rear Bolster Removal and Installation
4) Remove rear pillar inner trim. Service and Repair
5) Open cap (1).
6) Disconnect rear side air bag (inflator) module connector (3) as shown in figure.
a) Release lock (2).
b) Disconnect connector with lock released.





7) Remove rear side air bag (inflator) module bolt (1) and clips (2) and remove rear side air bag (inflator) module (3).






Installation

Reverse removal procedure, noting the following points.

- Lock connector for air bag (inflator) module securely.
- Close cap.
- Tighten rear side air bag (inflator) module bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Rear side air bag (inflator) module bolt (a): 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m, 7.4 lbf-ft)





- Enable air bag system. Enabling Air Bag System
