DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- If other DTC than P0871 is newly detected during this "DTC Confirmation Procedure", troubleshoot the newly detected DTC in first.
- Confirm that the following conditions are met in this procedure.

- Battery voltage > 10.5 V

- 0.5 < Gear ratio < 1.0


1) Drive vehicle at 30 - 50 km/h (19 mile/h - 31 mile/h) constantly for 40 sec. or more at "D" range. (Keep throttle valve opening constantly in this step).
2) Stop vehicle.
3) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF" and leave ignition mode in "OFF" for 10 sec.
4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
5) Repeat Step 1) through 2) twice.

DTC Troubleshooting


1. Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to CVT System Check CVT System Check.
2. Primary pressure sensor and its circuit check
Check primary pressure sensor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of P0842 DTC P0842 / P0843.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Repair or replace defective parts.
3. Secondary pressure sensor and its circuit check
Check secondary pressure sensor and its circuit according to Step 2 through 3 of P0847 DTC P0847 / P0848.
Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair or replace defective parts.
4. Stall test
Perform stall test. Stall Test
Is it in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck DTC. Service and Repair
NO
Replace CVT assembly. CVT Assembly Dismounting and Remounting
