DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION
HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
* A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Standard Bolt - Specified Torque For Standard Bolts.
1. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft with gear oil.
(b) Align the shaft splines tap in the drive shaft with a brass bar and hammer.
NOTICE:
* Make sure that the snap ring opening is facing downwards when installing the drive shaft.
* Be careful not to damage the oil seal, boot or dust cover.
2. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft with gear oil.
(b) Align the shaft splines and securely install the drive shaft with the 2 bolts.
Torque : 64 Nm (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:
Do not damage the oil seal, boot or dust cover.
3. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Align the matchmarks and install the drive shaft to the front axle.

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the outboard joint boot and speed sensor rotor.
4. CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
5. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
6. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR Installation
7. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY Installation
8. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB NUT
(a) Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and a new axle hub nut using a non-residue solvent.
NOTICE:
* Be sure to perform this work for a new drive shaft.
* Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects.
(b) Using a 30 mm socket wrench, install the axle shaft nut.
for Automatic Transaxle - Torque : 216 Nm (2203 kgf-cm, 159 ft-lbf)
for Manual Transaxle - Torque : 292 Nm (2978 kgf-cm, 215 ft-lbf)
(c) Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the axle hub nut.
9. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
10. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for Automatic Transaxle) Service and Repair
11. INSPECT AND ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for Automatic Transaxle)

12. ADD MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL (for Manual Transaxle) Service and Repair
13. INSPECT MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL (for Manual Transaxle)
Testing and Inspection
14. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
