Installation





STEERING GEAR / LINKAGE: STEERING GEAR: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Install the lock nut and tie rod end to the steering gear so that the matchmarks align.

HINT
After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.

2. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

3. CHECK TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Adjust the tie rod end LH and RH so that distance A and distance B are within the specified ranges.

HINT
* The values listed above are reference values.
* The toe-in is adjusted in a step.

4. INSTALL STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the steering gear to the front suspension crossmember with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.





Torque : 138 Nm (1407 kgf-cm, 102 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
* Make sure to tighten the bolts starting from the left side of the vehicle.
* Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

5. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

(a) Align the matchmarks and install the steering intermediate shaft to the steering gear.

(b) Install the bolt.

Torque : 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)

6. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the round hole in the No. 1 steering column hole cover with the protrusion of the steering gear and install the cover.

7. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH Installation

9. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH Installation

10. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle with the nut.





Torque : 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Tighten the nut up to an additional 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

(b) Install a new cotter pin.

11. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

12. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Installation

13. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH Installation

14. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH Installation

15. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH Installation

16. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER Installation

17. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH Installation

18. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH Installation

19. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER LH Installation

20. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH Installation

21. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Installation

22. INSTALL CENTER ENGINE UNDER COVER Installation

23. CONNECT NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Attach clip B to the body and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover to the body with clip A.

NOTICE:
Make sure that the lip of the No. 1 steering column hole cover is not damaged.

24. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation

25. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Installation

26. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 75 ft-lbf)

27. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
