2AR-FE COOLING: RADIATOR: REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE CENTER ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal
4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal
5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair
6. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER
Removal
7. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP Removal
8. REMOVE BATTERY INSULATOR
9. REMOVE BATTERY
10. REMOVE RADIATOR HOSE CLAMP
(a) Remove the radiator hose clamp as shown in the illustration.

11. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the cylinder head.
(b) Disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the No. 2 water by-pass pipe.
12. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the water inlet housing.
13. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the radiator reservoir.
14. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Remove the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the radiator and No. 2 water by-pass hose.

15. REMOVE NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Remove the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the radiator reservoir and then remove the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the 2 hose clamps.
16. REMOVE NO. 2 OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 oil cooler inlet hose and No. 2 oil cooler outlet hose from the No. 2 oil cooler tube sub-assembly.
(b) Disconnect the No. 3 oil cooler inlet hose and No. 3 oil cooler outlet hose from the radiator.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 oil cooler tube sub-assembly.
17. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY Removal
18. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT
(a) Disconnect the 2 horn connectors.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and upper radiator support.
19. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE HOSE Removal
20. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the 2 fan motor connectors.
(b) Remove the radiator together with the 2 lower radiator supports.
HINT
After removing the radiator, make sure that both lower radiator supports are attached to the fan shroud.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fan shroud.
(d) Remove the cooler condenser from the fan shroud with cooling fan.
HINT
After removing the condenser, make sure that the 4 cooler condenser cushions are attached to the condenser.
(e) Remove the No. 1 water by-pass hose and No. 2 radiator hose from the radiator.
(f) Disconnect the clamp and remove the No. 1 radiator hose from the radiator.
(g) Remove the 2 bolts and radiator from the fan shroud with cooling fan.
