Parking Brake System: Adjustments
PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM: ADJUSTMENT
1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
(a) Pull the parking brake lever to fully engage the parking brake.
(b) Release the lever to disengage the parking brake.
(c) Slowly pull the parking brake lever all the way and count the number of clicks.
Standard parking brake lever travel when pulled with a force of 200 N (20 kgf, 45 lbf):
5 to 8 clicks
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
3. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
NOTICE:
Make sure that the brake lines have been bled and no air is present before performing parking brake adjustment.
(a) Remove the rear console box assembly Removal.
(b) Completely release the parking brake lever.
(c) Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

(d) Strongly depress the brake pedal 3 to 5 times with the engine stopped.
(e) Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is corrected to within the specified range.
Parking brake lever travel:
5 to 8 notches at 200 N (20 kgf, 45 lbf)
(f) Tighten the new lock nut.
Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)
(g) Operate the parking brake lever 3 to 5 times and check the parking brake lever travel.
(h) Install the rear console box assembly Installation.
4. INSPECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER OPERATION LEVER AND STOPPER CLEARANCE
(a) Release the parking brake lever and check that the clearance measurement between the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever and the stopper is within the specified range.

Clearance:
0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) or less
If the clearance is not within the specified range, replace the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
5. INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
(a) When operating the parking brake lever, check that the brake warning light illuminates.
OK:
The brake warning light always illuminates at the first click.
