SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.
HINT: The procedure described below is for the RH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.
1. INSTALL ROOF SIDE RAIL BRACKET
(a) Insert the 2 hooks into the body holes and install the roof side rail bracket and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 86 in-lbf)
2. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG BRACKET
(a) Insert the 2 hooks into the body holes and install the curtain shield back bracket and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 86 in-lbf)
3. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
(c) Install 4 new clips and 4 new spacers the curtain shield airbag assembly as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
- Do not push in the pin.
- Make sure that the clips are installed in the correct direction.
- Make sure that the spacers are installed properly, in the correct direction, and that they are not damaged.
(d) Install the curtain shield airbag assembly with 4 new bolts.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 86 in-lbf)for Bolt A
Torque: 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)for Bolt B
NOTE: Do not twist the curtain shield airbag assembly when installing it.
(e) Install the 4 clips and the curtain shield airbag assembly to the body panel as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Make sure that the pins of the clips are pushed in firmly.
(f) Mark the clips.
HINT: Mark the clips to make sure that they are not reused.
(g) Connect the airbag connector.
NOTE: Securely lock the locking button.
