Pinpoint Test AW: The Memory Set Chime Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the memory feedback chime request from the Driver Seat Module (DSM) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus. When a successful memory set procedure is carried out, the DSM sends a chime request to the IC to sound the memory feedback chime.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

PINPOINT TEST AW: THE MEMORY SET CHIME IS INOPERATIVE

AW1 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION


- Ignition OFF.
- With the ignition switch in the OFF position and the key in the ignition lock cylinder, open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.
- Does the key-in-ignition warning chime operate correctly?

Yes
GO to AW2.

No
Go To Pinpoint Test AS. Pinpoint Tests AS: The Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative

AW2 CHECK THE MEMORY SET FUNCTIONS


- Ignition ON.
- Verify that the memory set functions correctly.
- Does the memory set functions correctly?

Yes
GO to AW3.

No
REFER to Seats.

AW3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND DSM SELF-TEST


- Ignition ON.
- Check for recorded DSM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to Seats.

No
GO to AW4.

AW4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND IC SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Is DTC U0208 recorded?

Yes
REFER to Go To Pinpoint Test AK. Pinpoint Tests AK: DTC U0208

No
INSTALL a new DSM. TEST the system for normal operation.
