Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the master cylinder.
3. Remove the brake booster. Service and Repair
4. Remove the brake booster bracket support bracket.
5. Remove the brake booster support brackets and the servo actuator rod grommet assembly.
1 Remove the brake booster support brackets.
2 Remove the brake booster actuator rod grommet assembly.
6. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
1 Pull the locking slide sideways.
2 Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.
8. With manual transaxle, disconnect the clutch feed pipe from the retaining bracket.
9. Remove the hydraulic control unit bracket left-hand side bolts.
10. Remove the hydraulic control unit bracket right-hand side bolts.
11. Remove the hydraulic control unit and bracket assembly.
12. Remove the hydraulic control unit from the bracket.
1 Loosen the retaining nuts.
2 Rotate and disengage the hydraulic control unit.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the hydraulic control unit to the bracket.
1 Rotate and engage the hydraulic control unit.
2 Tighten the retaining nuts.
2. Locate the hydraulic control unit and bracket assembly in the vehicle.
CAUTION: Do not damage the clutch feed pipe.
3. Install the right-hand side bolts.
4. Install the left-hand side bolts.
5. With manual transaxle install the clutch feed pipe to the retaining bracket.
6. Connect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.
7. Connect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
1 Connect the electrical connector.
2 Slide the locking slide inwards.
8. Install the brake booster support brackets and actuator rod grommet assembly.
1 Install the actuator rod grommet assembly.
2 Install the support brackets.
9. Install the brake booster bracket support bracket.
10. Install the brake booster. Service and Repair
11. Install the master cylinder.
12. Install the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn its strategy.
