Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove cable tension. Service and Repair
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Disconnect wiring connection from parking brake signal switch and bracket.
5. Remove cowl side trim panel.
6. Remove front parking brake cable and conduit end from clevis at parking brake control.
7. Remove conduit snap-in fitting from foot parking brake control using a 13 mm 12-point box-end wrench to press retaining prongs.
8. Remove three bolts retaining parking brake control to cowl side trim panel.
9. Remove bolt retaining parking brake control to instrument panel.
10. Remove parking brake control from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position parking brake control in vehicle.
2. Fit front parking brake cable and conduit through its mounting hole and press pronged retainer in place. Make sure prongs are securely locked in place. Connect the cable end fitting to clevis at parking brake control.
3. Install retaining bolts to cowl side trim panel and instrument panel. Tighten bolts to 23-35 Nm (17-25 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect wiring connector to parking brake signal switch and bracket.
5. Install cowl side trim panel.
6. Adjust parking brake cable tension. Adjustments
7. Lower vehicle and retest brake system.
