Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly Removal.

3. REMOVE SIDE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT Disassembly

4. REMOVE SIDE NO. 2 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT Disassembly

5. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY Disassembly

6. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the instrument panel wire from the front passenger airbag.





NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Remove the 2 screws.





(c) Detach the 5 hooks (A).





(d) Detach the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag from the instrument panel.
