Installation

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL CABLE: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Engage the 6 claws and 2 pins to install the spiral cable to the steering angle sensor.





2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

(c) Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.

NOTICE:
If it is not in the neutral position, the turn signal switch pin may snap.

(d) Engage the 3 claws to install the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.





NOTICE:
When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.

(e) Connect the connectors to the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.

NOTICE:
When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

3. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side) Installation

4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side) Installation

5. TURN FRONT WHEELS TO FACE STRAIGHT AHEAD

6. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Rotate the spiral cable counterclockwise slowly by hand until it stops.





NOTICE:
Do not turn the spiral cable using the airbag wire harness.

(d) Rotate the spiral cable clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.

HINT
The spiral cable will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.

7. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Installation

8. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

9. INSTALL STEERING PAD Installation

10. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

11. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
* Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
* Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
* Reset the auto tilt away function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column System.

13. INSPECT STEERING PAD Installation

14. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

15. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

(a) Inspect the SRS warning light Diagnosis System.
