Installation





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL STEERING PAD

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Connect the airbag connectors and horn connector to the steering pad.





NOTICE:
* When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
* Be sure to only connect the connectors to each corresponding color.

(d) Push in the lock to install the airbag connector.

(e) Confirm that the circumference groove of each "TORX" screw fits in the screw case, and place the steering pad onto the steering wheel assembly.

(f) Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, tighten the 2 "TORX" screws.

Torque : 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 in-lbf)

2. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

(a) Engage the claw to install the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.





3. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

(a) Engage the claw to install the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.





4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

5. INSPECT STEERING PAD

(a) Make sure that the horn sounds.

HINT
If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures.

6. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

7. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

(a) Inspect the SRS warning light Diagnosis System.
