PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE LEVER (for Manual Transmission): REMOVAL

1. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

2. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY WITH REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

Refer to the instructions for Removal of the propeller shaft with center bearing assembly Removal.

5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FLOOR REAR SUB PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front upper floor rear sub panel sub-assembly.

(b) Disengage the 6 clamps.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts and front upper floor rear sub panel sub-assembly.

6. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE

(a) Remove the lock nut from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

(b) Loosen the No. 1 wire adjusting nut and parking brake.

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE RETURN WITH DAMPER SPRING

(a) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the parking brake return with damper spring.

8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer.

(b) Slide the rubber boot as shown in the illustration.

9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

(b) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
