Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module Replacement

Tools Required

CH-47830 Holding Fixture


Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution (Brake Fluid Irritant Caution) .

1. Remove the brake master cylinder and power brake booster assembly. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (LHD) (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (LHD))Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (RHD) (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (RHD)) .
2. Install the CH-47830 to the master cylinder assembly.
3. Position the CH-47830 with the master cylinder assembly in a vise.




4. Remove the master cylinder reservoir (3). Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement) .
5. Remove the power brake booster (6). Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement (Power Brake Booster Replacement) .




6. Remove the mounting bolts for the electronic brake and traction control module (1).
7. Remove the mounting bolt (6) for the fluid level sensor.
8. Remove the bracket (5) for the fluid level sensor wiring harness.

Important: When removing the electronic brake and traction control module from the brake master cylinder, ensure the locating pin remains in the brake master cylinder body.


9. Remove the electronic brake and traction control module (2) from the brake master cylinder.

Important: DO NOT re-use the electronic brake and traction control module gasket.


10. Remove and discard the gasket (3) from the brake master cylinder.



Installation Procedure





1. Install a NEW electronic brake and traction control module gasket (3) to the master cylinder.

Important: Ensure the locating pins remain in the master cylinder body.


2. Install the electronic brake and traction control module (2) to the brake master cylinder.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .


Important: Hand install all of the electronic brake and traction control module bolts to properly locate the electronic brake and traction control module before tightening the bolts.


3. Install the bolts (1) for the electronic brake and traction control module.

Tighten the bolts to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).

4. Install the bracket (5) for the fluid level sensor electrical harness.
5. Install the mounting bracket bolt (6).

Tighten the bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in)





6. Install the power brake booster (6). Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement (Power Brake Booster Replacement) .
7. Install the master cylinder reservoir (3). Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement) .
8. Remove the brake master cylinder assembly from CH-47830 .
9. Install the brake master cylinder and power brake booster assembly. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (LHD) (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (LHD))Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (RHD) (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (RHD)) .
10. Bleed the hydraulic system.
