Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes




Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes









Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine









Vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine









Removal

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Service and Repair

3. Remove the 3 bolts and lower the underbody shield.





4. Remove the 13 screws and the lower radiator sight shield.





5. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Remove the 4 nuts (2 shown) and the front crossmember brace.





6. Remove both transmission fluid cooler tube quick connect secondary latches.





7. Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the transmission cooler tube assemblies.





Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine

8. Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.





9. Remove the 2 starter solenoid terminal nuts and position aside the wires.





10. Remove the starter wiring harness pin-type retainer from the rear transmission cooler tube bracket.





11. Remove the starter harness from the rear transmission cooler tube bracket.





12. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.





13. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.





Vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine

14. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.





15. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.





All vehicles

16. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bolt from the transmission and discard.





17. Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly from the vehicle.

18. Remove the front transmission cooler tube assembly from the vehicle. For additional information refer to, Transmission Fluid Cooler Transmission Fluid Cooler.

19. Remove the front transmission cooler tube assembly from the transmission cooler.





Installation

All vehicles

1. Install the front transmission cooler tube assembly to the transmission cooler.





2. Install the front transmission cooler tube assembly in the vehicle. For additional information refer to, Transmission Fluid Cooler Transmission Fluid Cooler.

3. Install the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly in the vehicle.

4. Install a new rear transmission fluid cooler tube bolt.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).





Vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine

5. Install the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





6. Install the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).





Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine

7. Install the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-engine mount nut.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





8. Install the rear transmission fluid cooler tube bracket-to-transmission nut.
- Tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).





9. Install the starter harness to the transmission cooler tube bracket.





10. Install the starter wiring harness pin-type retainer to the transmission cooler tube bracket.





11. Install the wires and the 2 starter solenoid terminal nuts.
- Tighten the starter solenoid battery terminal nut to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

- Tighten the starter solenoid terminal nut to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).





12. Install the starter solenoid terminal cover.





All vehicles

13. Connect the transmission cooler tube assemblies.





14. Install both transmission fluid cooler tube quick connect secondary latches.





15. Install the lower radiator sight shield and 13 screws.





16. Position the underbody shield and install the 3 bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).





17. Fill the transmission with fluid and verify correct operation. For additional information, refer to Transmission Fluid Level Check in Automatic Transaxle/Transmission - 6R80 Preliminary Inspection.
