Transmission Fluid Cooler

















Removal

1. Remove the 8 pin-type retainers and the upper air deflector.





2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly, the ACL outlet pipe and the ACL inlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Diagrams.

3. Remove the 2 bolts and position the degas bottle aside.





4. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector.





5. Remove the 4 bolts and the upper radiator support brackets.





6. Remove the 2 A/C condenser bolts.





7. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

8. Remove the 3 bolts and lower the underbody shield.





9. Remove the 13 screws and the lower radiator sight shield.





10. Remove the 2 nuts and position the A/C condenser forward.





11. Remove both transmission fluid cooler tube quick connect secondary latches.





12. Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the transmission cooler tube assemblies.





13. Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube-to-fan shroud bolt.





14. Remove the 2 transmission fluid cooler screws.





15. Lift and remove the transmission fluid cooler from the retaining pockets.





Installation

1. Install the transmission fluid cooler into the retaining pockets.





2. Install the 2 transmission fluid cooler screws.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





3. Install the transmission fluid cooler tube-to-fan shroud bolt.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





4. Connect the transmission cooler tube assemblies.





5. Install both transmission fluid cooler tube quick connect secondary latches.





6. Position the A/C condenser back and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





7. Install the lower radiator sight shield and 13 screws.





8. Position the underbody shield and install the 3 bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).





9. Install the 2 A/C condenser bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).





10. Install the upper radiator support brackets and 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).





11. Connect the cooling fan electrical connector.





12. Position the degas bottle and install the 2 bolts.





13. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly, the ACL outlet pipe and the ACL inlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Diagrams.

14. Install the upper air deflector and 8 pin-type retainers.





15. Fill the transmission with fluid and verify correct operation. For additional information, refer to Transmission Fluid Level Check in Automatic Transaxle/Transmission - 6R80 Preliminary Inspection.
