Pinpoint Test W: The Overdrive (O/D) Off Indicator is Never/Always On

Normal Operation

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the Overdrive (O/D) off status from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (part of the PCM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. When the O/D function is selected off, the TCM sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the O/D off indicator.

If the O/D off message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the O/D off indicator remains in the last on/off state, based upon the last known good O/D off message received.

If the O/D off message is missing for more than 5 seconds, DTC U0101:87 sets in continuous memory and defaults the O/D off indicator off.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Transmission concern
- PCM
- IPC
