Body Control Module B (BCM-B)

Pinpoint Tests

Pinpoint Test I: DTC P2533:14

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 11, Fuse and Relay Information for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Body Control Module B (BCM-B) monitors the run/start circuit on the BCM-B C4368-7 and if it detects a short to ground or an open on this circuit, DTC P2533:14 will set as an on-demand DTC only.

- DTC P2533:14 (Ignition Switch Run/Start Position Circuit: Circuit Short To Ground Or Open) - sets on-demand by the BCM-B if the run/start circuit is shorted to ground or open.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- BCM-B
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST I: DTC P2533:14

-------------------------------------------------
I1 CHECK THE RUN/START CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM-B C4368A .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the BCM-B C4368A-7, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to I4.

No
GO to I2.

-------------------------------------------------
I2 CHECK THE RUN/START CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB Fuse 35 (10A) .
- Measure the resistance between the BCM-B C4368A-7, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side and the SJB fuse 35 (10A) output side; and between the BCM-B C4368A-7, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the BCM-B and the SJB fuse 35 (10A) output side; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the BCM-B and ground?

Yes
GO to I4.

No
GO to I3.

-------------------------------------------------
I3 CHECK THE INTEGRITY OF THE SJB

- Disconnect: SJB C2280D .
- Measure the resistance between the BCM-B C4368A-7, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side and the SJB C2280D-23, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side; and between the BCM-B C4368A-7, circuit CBP35 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the BCM-B and the SJB; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the BCM-B and ground?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Smart Junction Box (SJB) Smart Junction Box (SJB). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
I4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM-B OPERATION

- Disconnect the BCM-B connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the BCM-B connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new BCM-B. REFER to Body Control Module B (BCM-B) Body Control Module B (BCM-B). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
