Pinpoint Test H: DTC U0155:87

Body Control Module B (BCM-B)

Pinpoint Tests

Pinpoint Test H: DTC U0155:87

Normal Operation

The Body Control Module B (BCM-B) monitors the drive select range and the brake lamp on messages from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN), and if it does not receive a drive select range and the brake lamp on message in more than 5 seconds, the BCM-B will set this DTC in continuous memory. The BCM-B monitors the MS-CAN for this information with a data sampling rate of once every 10 milliseconds.

- DTC U0155:87 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module: Missing Message) - set by the BCM-B if data messages received from the IPC over the MS-CAN are missing for longer than 5 seconds.
- DTC U0423:68 (Invalid Data Received from Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module: Event Information) - a continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the BCM-B does receive a drive select range message but does not receive a drive select status message for longer than 3 seconds with a data sampling rate of once every 10 milliseconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Module communication
- BCM-B
- IPC

PINPOINT TEST H: DTC U0155:87

-------------------------------------------------
H1 VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to H2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

-------------------------------------------------
H2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test .
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the IPC pass the network test?

Yes
GO to H3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

-------------------------------------------------
H3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded BCM-B DTCs from the self-test.
- Is DTC U3003:62 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test F. Pinpoint Test F: DTC U3003:62

No
GO to H4.

-------------------------------------------------
H4 RECHECK THE BCM-B DTCs

NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the BCM-B self-test.
- Is DTC U0155:87 still present?

Yes
GO to H5.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

-------------------------------------------------
H5 CHECK FOR DTC U0155:87 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test .
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC U0155:87 set in the Audio Control Module (ACM), Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM), Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) (if applicable), HVAC module, IPC, or the Restraints Control Module (RCM)?

Yes
INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

No
INSTALL a new BCM-B. REFER to Body Control Module B (BCM-B) Body Control Module B (BCM-B).
