Pinpoint Test S: The Powertrain Malfunction (Wrench) Warning Indicator is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
The PCM monitors the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system and provides the Instrument Cluster (IC) with the ETC status over the communication network. When a system concern is detected, the PCM provides the IC with a signal commanding the IC to illuminate the powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator or display a message if equipped with a message center.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM
- IC
