Diagnostic Overview

The SHIFT TO PARK Message Is Inoperative or Always On

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Shift To Park Message Display .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

Visually inspect the transmission range selector and make sure that the selector lever fully locks in the PARK (P) position and that there is not any binding of the transmission range selector.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.

2. Ignition ON.

3. Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.

Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR?








2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 recorded?








3. CHECK THE PRNDL PARK (P) OPERATION

1. Apply the parking brake.

2. Ignition ON.

3. Shift the vehicle in and out of PARK (P) while monitoring the PRNDL P indication.

Does the PRNDL display P with the shifter in PARK (P) and turn off when the shifter is out of PARK (P)?
