Power Steering Pump - Installation

1. Install power steering pump back in engine compartment using reverse order of its removal.
2. Install A/C wiring harness routing clip to rear of pump.
3. Install power steering pump onto its mounting bracket (1) cast into the engine cover.
4. Install three power steering pump mounting bolts (3) through pulley (not shown in figure). Tighten pump mounting bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
5. Install accessory drive belt. Accessory Drive Belt - Installation




6. Lower floor jack (4) allowing engine to return to normal position.
7. Install two bolts fastening upper motor mount to frame rail. Tighten bolts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: Before installing power steering pressure hose on power steering pump, replace O-ring on end of power steering pressure hose. Lubricate O-ring using clean power steering fluid.





8. Install pressure hose (4) into pump fitting (1). Thread pressure hose tube nut into pump and tighten to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).
9. Raise and support vehicle. Maintenance
10. Install nuts mounting front and rear motor mounts to engine cradle (one nut each mount). Tighten nuts to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.).
11. Lower vehicle.
12. Install air cleaner housing. Air Cleaner Housing - Installation
13. Install power steering fluid reservoir. Power Steering Fluid Reservoir - Installation
14. Connect negative (-) battery cable on negative battery post.
15. Fill and bleed power steering system. Service and Repair
16. Inspect for leaks.
