Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
11 14 005 - Replacing front crankshaft seal (S65)
Special tools required:
- 11 2 386 11 2 380 Puller
- 11 5 331
- 11 5 332
- 11 5 333
- 11 6 360 11 6 360 Extractor
- 11 7 231
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove fan cowl Service and Repair with electric fan.
- Remove radiator Service and Repair.
- Remove vibration damper Service and Repair.
Lay special tool 11 2 386 11 2 380 Puller on crankshaft.
Screw special tool 11 6 360 11 6 360 Extractor to 80 Nm into radial seal.
Release radial seal from housing.
Repeat the operation several times if necessary.
Note:
Carefully saw open old radial shaft seal with an iron saw from special tool 11 6 360 11 6 360 Extractor.
Remove remnants of sealant from sealant outlet (1) on left and right.
Apply Drei Bond sealant to sealant outlet (1) on left and right.
Secure special tool 11 5 331 with bolts (1).
Important!
Pay attention to dowel pin.
Push special tool 11 7 231 onto special tool 11 5 331 in direction of arrow.
Installation:
Remove support ring from shaft seal.
Push shaft seal (1) uniformly by way of fitting aid 11 7 231 onto special tool 11 5 331.
Position shaft seal approx. 5 mm before crankcase.
Remove special tool 11 7 231.
Press in shaft seal (1) with special tools 11 5 332 and 11 5 333.
Assemble engine.
Setting time of shaft seal approx. 1 hour.
Correct Engine Oil Service engine oil level if necessary.
