Input Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pulling Hook (T20143/2)

• Assembly Tool (T40198)

• Guide Sleeve (T40198/1)

• Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095)

• Grease, refer to the Parts Catalog

Procedure

• Secure the transmission to the (VAS 6095). Refer to => [ Securing on Engine and Transmission Holder ] Securing On Engine and Transmission Holder.

- Remove the flywheel. Refer to => [ Flywheel ] Flywheel.

- Remove the input shaft seal using (T20143/2).






- Install the (T40198/1) on the input shaft.






- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the new shaft seal with oil.

- Fill the space between the sealing- and dust lip half way with sealing grease; for the correct sealing grease, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Install the shaft seal on the guide sleeve.

• Installed position: Open side of shaft seal faces transmission.

- Install the shaft seal with the (T40198) all the way. Be careful not to bend it.






- Install the flywheel. Refer to => [ Flywheel ] Flywheel.
