Front Three-Point Seat Belt with Belt Tensioner

• Removal and installation are same for right and left.

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

• Follow all regulations when disposing of pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Storage, Transporting and Disposal.

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition switched on.

- Remove the front belt anchor. Refer to => [ Front Belt Anchor ] Front Belt Anchor.

- Remove side trim. Refer to => [ Side Trim ] Side Trim.

- Remove the seat belt positioning motor. Refer to => [ Driver and Front Passenger Seat Belt Positioning Motors ] Driver and Front Passenger Seat Belt Positioning Motors.






Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Open the connector lock - 5 - with a small screwdriver and disconnect the belt force limiter - 2 - seat belt tensioner igniter 1 - 7 - connectors.

- Unclip the seat belt guide - 4 - and thread the seat belt webbing - 6 - with the seat belt latch through the seat belt guide - 3 -.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - and the belt tensioner from the mount.

Installing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

- If parts of the seat belt system are removed due to an accident, replace the belt system mounting bolts.

• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

- Insert the belt tensioner with the anti-twist mechanism - 1 - in the mount - 2 - - arrow - and tighten the bolt.






Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.

- After installing the passenger side three-point seat belt, check the child seat anchorage function of the belt. Refer to => [ Child Seat Anchorage, Checking Function ] Child Seat Anchorage, Checking Function.
