Front Coolant Pipe






Front Coolant Pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Spanner Wrench (3212)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing






- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining and Filling ] Service and Repair remove the after-run coolant pump (V51) => [ After-Run Coolant Pump (V51) ] After-Run Coolant Pump (V51).

- Remove the air duct - arrows -.

- Remove the front left coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Front Coolant Pipes ] Left Front Coolant Pipes.

- Removing the ribbed belt:

=> [ Ribbed Belt, Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering ] Ribbed Belt, Vehicles With Hydraulic Power Steering

=> [ Ribbed Belt, Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Power Steering ] Ribbed Belt, Vehicles With Electro-Mechanical Power Steering

- Remove vacuum pump.





- Remove the bolts for the coolant pump ribbed belt pulley, using a (3212) to counter hold.






- Remove the ribbed belt pulley.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - for the wiring leading to the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor clutch solenoid.






Refrigerant can cause serious personal injury.

Do not open the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

- Remove A/C compressor bolts - arrows -.

Danger of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses.

Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.

- Remove the A/C compressor from the bracket and move it to the side with the lines still connected.

- Loosen the hose clamp - 3 - and remove the left coolant pipe bolts - 1 and 2 -.






- Tip the coolant pump to the left slightly - arrow - and remove it from the upper coolant pipe.

- Remove the bolt - arrow - and remove the left front coolant pipe bracket.






- Disconnect the connector - 3 - from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (G62).






- Open the clamps and remove the coolant hoses - 1 and 4 -.

- Loosen the clamp - 2 - and remove the upper coolant hose.

- Loosen the hose clamp - 5 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the front coolant pipe.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.

Replace the gaskets and O-rings.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Clean or smooth the seal and O-ring sealing surfaces.

- Coat the sealing rings and O-rings with coolant and then mount them on the coolant pipe.

- Connect the coolant hose to the coupling. Refer to => [ Connect the Coolant Hose to the Coupling ] Radiator and Coolant Fan Overview.






- Install the left coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Coolant Pipes ] Left Coolant Pipes.

- Install A/C compressor.

- Install the coolant pump ribbed belt pulley. Refer to => [ Coolant Pump, Coolant Thermostat and Connecting Piece Overview ] Coolant Pump, Coolant Thermostat and Connecting Piece Overview.

- Install the vacuum pump.

- Installing the ribbed belt:

=> [ Ribbed Belt, Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Power Steering ] Ribbed Belt, Vehicles With Electro-Mechanical Power Steering

- Install the left front coolant pipes. Refer to => [ Left Front Coolant Pipes ] Left Front Coolant Pipes.

- Install after-run coolant pump (V51). Refer to => [ After-Run Coolant Pump (V51) ] After-Run Coolant Pump (V51).

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Service and Repair.
