Shift Cable: Adjustments






Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket and Key (T40031)

Procedure






Tightening specification, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Overview ] Description and Operation.

- Remove the frame for the selector lever boot - 1 - - arrows -.

- Move the selector lever into "S".






The clamping screw is only accessible when the selector lever is in "S".

Loosen the clamping screw approximately 1 turn but do not remove it.

- Loosen selector lever cable clamping screw approximately 1 turn using (T40031).

- Carefully move the selector lever forward and backwards slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.

This loosens the selector lever cable.

- Turn on the ignition.

The Two Following Conditions Must be Fulfilled:

"S1" must appear in the transmission range display (Y6).

The "S" inside the selector lever transmission range position display unit (Y26) must be illuminated.

Conditions are Not Fulfilled:

- Tighten the clamping screw - arrow - for the selector lever cable in this position using the (T40031).

- Check DTC memory in OBD. Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.

- Check in Guided Fault Finding. Refer to vehicle diagnostic tester.

- Check the adjustment on the multifunction transmission range switch (F125). Refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125), Removing, Installing and Adjusting ] Service and Repair.

- Adjust the selector lever cable again. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

Conditions are Fulfilled:

Do not move the selector lever forward or backwards while tightening the clamping screw otherwise the adjustment will be incorrect.

- Tighten the bolt - arrow - on the selector lever cable using the (T40031).

Install in reverse order of removal.
