ATF Pipes and Cooler, Cleaning
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• Protective Goggles
Procedure
Before installing a replacement transmission, always clean out the ATF cooler and ATF pipes using compressed air (maximum 10 bar).
Wear protective goggles.
- Clean the following connections thoroughly: ATF pipe/transmission, ATF pipe/thermostat and ATF pipe/ATF cooler.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and pull the ATF pipes out of the thermostat - 2 -.
- Control the thermostat and remove the ATF pipes from/to ATF cooler on the thermostat - 2 -.
- Remove the ATF cooler and drain it. Refer to => [ ATF Pipes and ATF Cooler ] ATF Pipes and ATF Cooler
- Remove the ATF lines from the transmission.
- Attach a hose to one transmission ATF pipe/thermostat and secure it with a hose clamp. Hang the other end of the hose in a suitable container.
- Clear the ATF pipe with compressed air.
- Connect the hose to the other ATF pipe and repeat the procedure.
- Coat the O-ring with ATF.
