Selector Lever Cable

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80-200)

Removing






• Before removing selector lever cable, secure a cable on selector lever cable so that it can be threaded easily when installing.

- Shifter mechanism function unit, removing. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.

- Push the rubber grommet - arrow - forward and out of the function unit.

- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -..






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the noise insulation bracket.






Vehicles with a 3.0L TDI Engine






- Mark the hoses - arrows - for the differential pressure sensor (G505) to the pressure lines on the particulate filter with different colors to prevent mixing them up when installing them later.

- Pull the hoses - arrows - to the differential pressure sensor off the pressure lines on the particulate filter.

All Vehicles






- Remove the bolts - 1, 3 and 4 - from the selector lever cable heat shield, if equipped.

• Ignore - 2 -.

- Move the heat shield to the side.

- Remove ball head - 1 - on the selector lever cable from the selector shaft lever using the (80 - 200).






- Remove the clips - 3 - and then remove the selector lever cable from transmission.

• Do not bend the selector lever cable.

• Ignore - 2 -.

Installing






Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications:

• => [ Selector Lever Cable Overview ] Description and Operation

• => [ Selector Lever Cable Heat Shield - Tightening Specification ] Description and Operation

• Secure all the hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Secure selector lever cable to cable that was guided in during removal.

- Guide the selector lever cable and rubber grommet - 2 - into the selector mechanism function unit - 1 -.








Danger of causing damage to the transmission selector lever.

• Do not bend the transmission selector lever when installing the selector lever cable. Control it if necessary.

- Press the selector lever cable - 1 - carefully onto the selector lever.

- Secure the grommet selector lever cable grommet to the cable bracket with a new clip - 3 -.

- Install the selector lever cable heat shield bolts - 1, 3 and 4 -, if equipped.






Vehicles with a 3.0L TDI Engine






- Attach the hoses - arrows - for the differential pressure sensor to the pressure lines on the particulate filter according to the color markings made earlier.

All Vehicles






- Install the rubber grommet - arrow - on the selector lever cable in the selector mechanism function unit lower section.

- Shifter mechanism function unit, installing, refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit ] Shift Mechanism Function Unit.

- Adjust selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

- Install the rear noise insulation..
