Headlamp Housing
Observe notes on contact corrosion, refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
• Headlamps must be adjusted after performing measures that could influence headlamp adjustment. Refer to => [ HID Headlamp, Adjusting ] HID Headlamp, Adjusting or => [ LED Headlamp, Adjusting ] LED Headlamp, Adjusting.
Danger to life due to high voltage.
Removal
- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 5 -.
- Move the wheel housing liner - 4 - to the side and, at the same time, remove the ventilation hose - 2 - from the front wheel spoiler - 3 -.
- Remove the lock carrier cover.
- Remove the bolts - 2 and 3 -.
- Loosen the screws - 4 - four turns.
- Remove the clamp - 1 - upward.
- Remove the headlamp housing - 5 - forward out of the mount.
- Disconnect the connector and remove the headlamp housing.
Danger of causing damage.
• Carefully guide the headlamp housing on the bumper cover to prevent damaging the headlamp housing and bumper cover.
• The headlamp housing and bumper cover can get damaged if the headlamp housing is pulled out too quickly and with a sudden jerk.
Installation
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ HID Headlamps Overview ] HID Headlamps Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Make sure the adjusting nut - 4 - on the adjustor - 5 - moves easily - arrows -.
- Turn the adjusting nut all the way down but to not tighten it.
- Insert the headlamp housing - 1 - into the mount. The clip- 3 - on the headlamp housing must fit into the guide on the mount - 2 -.
• It must possible to move the headlamp easily and without having to force it.
- The vent - 3 - for the headlamp housing must be pushed evenly onto the mount - 2 - for the vent hose - 1 - when installing the headlamp - 4 -.
- Push the clip down and secure the headlamp housing with the clamp - 1 -.
- Tighten the screws - 2 and 3 -.
- Tighten the bolt - 4 -.
• Tightening screw automatically turns adjusting nut on adjuster towards headlamp housing - 5 - mounting point and secures housing.
- Install the lock carrier cover.
- Move the wheel housing liner - 4 - to the side and connect the ventilation hose - 2 - to the front wheel spoiler - 3 -.
- Tighten the screws - 1 and 5 -.
- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Service and Repair.
