Standard Seat and Sport Seat, Manual
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery with the ignition on.
- Push the headrest into the lowest position.
- Move front seat - 4 - into the front, highest position.
- Remove the front belt anchor. Refer to => [ Front Belt End Fitting ] Front Belt End Fitting.
- Remove the rear spindle covers from the seat rail. Refer to => [ Seat Rail Spindle Cover ] Seat Rail Spindle Cover.
- Remove the rear bolts - 3 - and - 5 - from the seat rail.
- Move the front seat all the way to the rear and then into its highest position.
- Remove the front rear spindle covers from the seat rail. Refer to => [ Seat Rail Spindle Cover ] Seat Rail Spindle Cover.
- Remove the front bolts - 1 - and - 2 - from the seat rail.

- Disconnect the connectors on the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Harness Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Harness Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Connect airbag adapter connector (VAS 6282) to the side airbag harness connector => [ Airbag Adapter VAS 6282, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter VAS 6282, Connecting.
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle with a second technician.
Installation
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Remove the airbag adapter for seat removal (VAS 6282) only after installing the front seat, refer to => [ Airbag Adapter VAS 6282, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter VAS 6282, Connecting.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
- Connect electrical harness connectors to the connectors of the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Harness Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Harness Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Align the front seat - 4 - inside the vehicle and tighten the front bolts - 1 - and - 2 - on the seat rail hand-tight only.
- Move the front seat all the way forward/up.
- Mount the bolts - 3 - and - 5 - on the seat rail and tighten them.
- Move the front seat all the way to the rear and then into its highest position.
- Tighten front bolts.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again. Vehicle diagnostic tester. Vehicle diagnostic tester.
