Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

- Attach front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture For Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove backrest hinge trim. Refer to => [ Backrest Hinge Trim ] Backrest Hinge Trim

- Carefully release latch - arrow -, disconnect pneumatic lines - 1 - and - 2 -.






- Carefully release latch - arrow -, remove pneumatic line - 1 - from the compressor - 2 -.






- Free up pneumatic lines to the backrest.

- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses. Refer to => [ Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat ] Modular Wire Routing With Corrugated Tube on Front Seat.

• The wiring harness between the connection point and the side airbag is continuous.

• Ignore - 3 -.

- Detach left and right rubber strap - 1 - at the bottom of the seat pan.






- Remove belt guide bolt - 1 - - 2 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - on the left and right sides of the backrest hinge.

- Remove backrest from the seat pan by carefully removing the side airbag wiring harness and, depending on the version, removing all other wiring harnesses as well as the pneumatic lines to the backrest from the seat pan.

Installation

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
