ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Adapter for Filling ATF (VAS 6262 A)

ATF Filling Adapter (VAS 6262/5)

Original 1 liter container

Protective goggles

Procedure

The engine is off.

Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.

The selector level is in P.

The parking brake button should be activated to set the electromechanical parking brake.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Transmission Drain and Inspection Plug Overview ] Transmission Drain and Inspection Plug Overview.

- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -.





- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.


Danger of eye injury.

Wear protective goggles.

- Remove the ATF drain plug - arrow B - and drain the ATF.






There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

Do not start the engine when there is no ATF in the transmission.

Follow the disposal requirements.

Replace the ATF drain plug and seal.

Replace the plug for the ATF check and fill hole.

- Tighten the new drain plug - arrow B -.

Fill the Transmission with ATF.


There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

Only use the ATF available as a replacement part for the automatic transmission 0BK.

Other oils can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.

For the correct allocation, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.

The ATF filler adapter must be clean and the ATF must not be mixed with any other oils.

- Secure the ATF container and the (VAS 6262 A) on the vehicle as high as possible; for the correct ATF specification, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.

- Tighten the new plug - arrow A -.





- Install the (VAS 6262/5) into the ATF check and fill hole - arrow -.





- Fill the ATF using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole.

- Move the selector lever into P.

- Start the engine, wait 20 seconds and then turn it off.

- Fill the ATF again until it starts to leak out of the hole.

- Start the engine.

- Fill the ATF again using the adapter until the ATF starts to leak out of the check and fill hole.

- Tighten the old plug for the ATF check and fill hole.

- While pressing the brake pedal and with the vehicle idling, shift through all the selector lever positions (P, R, N, D, S) leaving each position engaged for 3 seconds.

- Move the selector lever into P.

- Check the ATF level and correct if necessary. Refer to => [ ATF, Checking Level and Correcting ] ATF, Checking Level and Correcting.

Observe all notes and test requirements for checking ATF level and correcting.

- Install the rear noise insulation.
