Seat Pan Cover and Upholstery, Sport Seat

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)

Front-End Hook (3370)

The work description given applies to the Sport front seat (manual and power).

Removing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat:

Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.

Power Sport seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.

- Remove the front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Front Seat Backrest ] Front Seat Backrest.

- Remove the sill side trim retaining bracket.

Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Retaining Bracket Trim, Sill Side ] Retaining Bracket Trim, Sill Side.

Power Sport seat, refer to => [ Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim ] Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim.

- Versions with LATCH (passenger seat only), remove the LATCH. Refer to => [ Anchorage, Front Seat ] Anchorage, Front Seat.

- Remove the seat depth adjuster as far as the stop.






- Unclip the catches - 2 -.

- Tilt the support with the cushion and cover - 1 - for the seat depth adjustment upward in - direction of arrow - so that the catches remain disengaged.

- Remove the support with seat depth adjustment upholstery and cover - 2 - up and forward at an angle.






- Unclip the cover retaining strips - 1, 3 and 4 - and rear cushion.

- Disengage the cover clamping strip - 1 - using the (3370) on the sides - arrow -.






- Disengage the retaining strip- 2 - on the cover at the back using the (3370).

- Remove the cover with upholstery from the seat pan and seat depth adjuster.

The seat depth adjuster support (plastic) remains on the upholstery.

Installation


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

- Make sure the retaining strips engage correctly and the cover is not wrinkled.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
