Removing

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] [1][2]Battery.

Left headlamp:

- Remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir upper section and the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Fluid Reservoir Upper Section and Power Steering Fluid Reservoir ] Windshield Wiper Fluid Reservoir Upper Section and Power Steering Fluid Reservoir.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 2.0L TFSI engine:

- Remove air filter housing, refer to => [ 2.0L TFSI ] Service and Repair.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 3.2L FSI engine:

- Remove air filter housing, refer to => [ 3.2L FSI ] Service and Repair.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 4.2L MPI engine:

- Remove air filter housing, refer to => [ 4.2L MPI ] Service and Repair.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 2.0L TDI engine:

- Remove air filter housing, refer to => [ 2.0L TDI ] Service and Repair.

Right headlamp - vehicles with 3.0L TDI engine:

- Remove air filter housing, refer to => [ 3.0L TDI ] Service and Repair.

Continuation for both sides:





- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove low beam housing cover from headlamp housing - arrow -.

- Disengage electrical wiring at guides - arrow -.





- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 -.

- Release spring clips - 1 - and - 3 - and remove gas-discharge lamp - 2 - from housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Insert the new HID bulb into the housing without touching the bulb with bare hands.

• Observe installation position: Electrical connection must always face downward.

- Secure gas-discharge lamp with spring clips.

- Connect battery. Required actions => [1][2]Battery.
