Fault-Tracing
Fault-tracing
Test driving the transmission
- Start the engine.
- Activate the service gear indication.
Test drive the vehicle and especially check the downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear.
- Move the gear selector to position D.
- Accelerate until 3rd gear is activated.
- Release the accelerator pedal so that it is unaffected.
If the front wheels lock-up slightly when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, the fault is permanent and currently active.
If the transmission function is OK, this indicates an intermittent fault, i.e. the fault was present previously but is not active at the moment.
Continue - Checking the status
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the status
- Ignition on.
- Activate solenoid S2.
Check the status for solenoid S2. The status must switch between OFF and ON.
The valve must click. Listen using a stethoscope or a screwdriver pressed to your ear.
There is a mechanical fault if the solenoid does not click. Replace solenoid S2.
If the solenoid clicks clearly, this means that there is an internal fault in the transmission.
Replace the transmission.

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Resetting the adaptation and oil quality counter
Resetting adaptation
Resetting the adaptation and the counter for "Transmission oil, replace"
Hint: The transmission has torque-regulated, adaptive pressure regulation. The pressure regulator enables the transmission to regulate pressure during each shift to prevent hard shifting. Each shift is assessed by the transmission control module (TCM) and is stored in the internal memory. This makes it possible to compensate for transmission and clutch wear. It is important that the adaptation in the memory is reset so that the transmission works normally after the repair. Because the fluid was changed during the repair, the counter for transmission fluid change must also be reset. If the counter is not reset during draining/replacement, a diagnostic trouble code may be generated under the wrong conditions.
Note! This applies only if the transmission or one of the components in the transmission have been replaced.
- Ignition on.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol to reset the adaptation and counter.
